ST LOUIS -- A member of the UNI women's basketball team has been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for the first time this season.
Junior forward Grace Boffeli has been named the MVC Player of the Week for her performance in the first week of conference action. Boffeli was just shy of averaging a double-double, with 21 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1 assists over two games. Boffeli led the Panthers in scoring against both Bradley and Illinois State, despite getting into foul trouble early at Renaissance Coliseum.
Boffeli only had two points in the first half against the Braves, but roared out to 15 points in the final two quarters to help put the game away in the third. At CEFCU Arena against the Redbirds, Boffeli helped lead a comeback for the Panthers with two critical and-1 situations in the third and fourth quarters. With her offensive output this past week, Boffeli is now fourth in the MVC in scoring, averaging 16.8 points a game.
This is the second time in Boffeli's career that she has been named Player of the Week. She earned her first Player of the Week honor during the 2021-22 season for her performances against Indiana State, Loyola, and Valparaiso on February 7th.
