Bowen Born earns Field of 68 Almanac preseason honors

Sophomore guard voted MVC Preseason Breakout Player and Second Team All-Conference
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI men's basketball guard Bowen Born has been selected for a pair of preseason honors by the 2022-23Â Field of 68 Almanac.
Born earned preseason second team all-conference recognition by the Almanac, and was also picked as the preseason breakout player in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), as voted on by the league's coaches.

Born, a Norwalk, Iowa native who enters his third season at UNI, averaged 7.4 points per game last season helping the Panthers to an MVC regular season championship and NIT appearance in 2021-22. Averaging 23.8 minutes off the bench last year, Born was selected as the MVC's Sixth Man of the Year and named to the league's All-Bench Team. Shooting 90.7% from the free throw line, his career percentage from the charity stripe sits at 85%, the fourth highest mark in program history.
Born and the Panthers return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 2 with a home exhibition against Dubuque, before opening the regular season on Nov. 7 vs. Wartburg at the McLeod Center.
