CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI Athletics continues to build on success in the classroom, as shown with the release of the department's academic reports for the 2022 spring semester.
UNI student-athletes recorded a department wide GPA of 3.33 this past semester, with 13 of UNI's 15 programs posting a team semester GPA of at least 3.00, and seven teams surpassing a 3.41. This marks the fifth consecutive semester with a department-wide GPA of at least 3.30, meeting the benchmarks outlined in Panthers Rising, the athletic department's strategic plan.
"We are very proud of our student-athletes after another successful semester in the classroom this spring," said Stacia Eggers, senior associate athletic director for student services. "This past semester not only shows our student-athlete's dedication to their teams, but their continued commitment to academic success."
The department's cumulative GPA now sits at 3.38, the tenth consecutive term in which it has been over 3.20. All 15 programs finished the spring semester with a cumulative average of at least 3.00, while seven of UNI's programs maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Women's golf led all Panther programs with a 3.80 semester GPA this spring, while men's basketball led all men's programs with a 3.41 GPA. The men's basketball program also notched the best single-semester GPA improvement from the fall, jumping up 0.36 grade points.
