UNI men's and women's golf at Stampede at the Creek
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The UNI men's and women's golf teams will head to Elkhorn, Nebraska, to compete in the Stampede at the Creek tournament hosted by the University of Nebraska Omaha.Â
The men and women will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday at Indian Creek Golf Course. The venue has three nine-hole courses, with the women playing on the Red Feather and Blackbird courses (5,988 yards) and the men playing Black Bird and Gray Hawk, totaling 7,242 yards. Both courses will play as a par 72.
The Panthers played in this tournament in the fall, with the women finishing in sixth place, shooting rounds of 329, 321, and 314 for a total of 964. Senior Hannah Bermel was the low scorer, tying for a 12th-place finish with a 54-hole total of 228 while Allison Nuss tied for 29th with a 242.
The men also competed at this tournament in the fall, where they finished in fifth place with scores of 294, 300 and 298. Griffin Parker finished in the top 10 (T9th) with scores of 70, 74, and 72 to shoot even par. Ben Bermel finished tied for 21st, shooting 73, 76, and 75 while Thomas Storbeck finished tied for 23rd, shooting three rounds of 75.
The men are playing six golfers in the lineup and counting four finishes, while the women are playing standard format.Â
The women's field consists of Western Illinois, Creighton, South Dakota State, Wisconsin-Green Bay, St. Thomas, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, and Omaha.
Competing on the men's side include Bradley, Western Illinois, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Wisconsin-Green Bay, St. Thomas, Northern Iowa, South Dakota and Omaha.
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Monday with final round tee times starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on http://www.golfstat.com/.
