Sanders gets second Newcomer of the Week honors

ST LOUIS -- For the second time in less than a month, a new member of the UNI softball team has been honored by the MVC
Kylee Sanders was voted as the Missouri Valley Conference's Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday by league coaches and SIDs. This is Sanders second time being named to the honor with her first coming on March 29.
Sanders was a pivotal part of UNI's three game sweep of Valparaiso over the Easter holiday weekend. The freshman shortstop not only slashed 364/.364/.727 in 11 at bats, Sanders also added four hits, three runs and three RBIs. Sanders also excelled in the field with three putouts, nine assists, and helped on one of three Panther double plays against the Beacons.Â
This is the fifth week in the row that the Panthers have had a member of their roster named to an MVC Weekly Honor. In that time UNI has collected two Player of the Week honors, two Newcomer of the Week honors, and one Pitcher of the Week honors.Â
