UNI track and field sweeps male MVC athlete of the week honors

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The UNI men's track and field team swept the weekly Missouri Valley Conference honors.
Isaiah Trousil and Thomas Yezek earned MVC Male Track and MVC Male Field Athlete of the Week honors with their performances at the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State last weekend.
Trousil already held the best time in the conference in the 100-meter dash, but he posted a career best time to hold on to the spot. He also opened his 200-meter dash outdoor season with the best time in the MVC.
In his first outdoor competition of the season, Yezek also posted the top mark in the league in his event, the discus. UNI now holds the top two spots on the MVC performance list for discus with Yezek's throw and the throw of the previous leader, Darius King.
Men's track
Isaiah Trousil, Jr., West Burlington, Iowa (UNI)
Isaiah Trousil's marks in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes now lead the Missouri Valley Conference. He shattered his career best in the 100-meter dash to top the MVC list. He finished third at KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State with a time of 10.25 seconds. His previous collegiate best was 10.48. The new mark puts him 33rd in the nation. In the 200-meter dash, he took second at the KT Woodman Classic with a time of 20.73 seconds. His new collegiate best tops the MVC and is 30th in the nation. He was also part of the second-place 4x100 team that ran 40.56 seconds at the Wichita State meet.

Thomas Yezek, Sr., Northwood, Iowa (UNI)
Thomas Yezek won the discus at the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State to bump teammate Darius King from the top of the Missouri Valley Conference leader board. His throw of 56.11 meters (184 feet, 1 inch) is 42nd in the nation. The new mark is a career best.
