ST. LOUIS -- Two members of the UNI women's basketball team have been recognized for their play this year by the Missouri Valley Conference.
For the fourth year in a row senior guard Karli Rucker has been named to the First Team All-MVC along with 10 other MVC players. Freshman forward Grace Boffeli was also recognized for the first time in her career as part of the Honorable Mention All-MVC Team.
The Missouri Valley Conference announced its All-Conference Teams on Wednesday including the First Team, Honorable Mention, All-Defensive, All-Freshman, and All-Newcomer. Specialty awards will be announced on Thursday between the first and second games of the Hoops in the Heartland Tournament in Moline.Â
Over the 2022 season Rucker led the team in scoring, assists, and three-point field goal percentage. Rucker also solidified her place in the Panther record book becoming the program's assist leader, third in career scoring, first in games played with fellow senior Nicole Kroeger, second in games started, and second in minutes played.Â
Boffeli had a breakout year for UNI as a second year freshman at forward. Boffeli played in the majority of the Panthers games and started most of the MVC season for UNI. Along with a breakout year, Boffeli also put herself into the record books with the fourth best rebounding year in Panther history. Boffeli's 256 rebounds this season is the best for a Panther since Alex Cook in 2004-05.Â
The Panthers will begin their quest to become conference tournament champions on Friday evening at Hoops in the Heartland. UNI will take on Valparaiso in their first game of the tournament on March 11 at 8:30 p.m. Â
