
Panthers enter the MVC Championships ranked fifth amongst opponents

CEDAR FALLS - The Northern Iowa Swim and Dive team will travel to Iowa City for this years' MVC Championship meet following an 11-4 regular-season record. This year's meet marks the third time UNI has hosted the MVC Championships.Â
Returning First-Team All-MVC honorees Amber Finke and Lily Ernst lead the Panthers into the championships, with both ranking among the top-five seeds in one or more of their events. Freshman Faith Larsen and Junior Taylor Hogan share the highest seeds heading into the meet for the Panthers, sitting second in the 50 Freestyle and on 3-meter respectively. Hogan most recently qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones against Nebraska-Omaha.Â
The Panthers rank fifth in the Pre-Championship poll selected by the coaches with 33 votes. Missouri State was selected as the favorite, receiving 63 votes, followed by Southern Illinois (56), Indiana State (48), Illinois State (40). Behind the Panthers are Little Rock (21), Evansville (18), and Valparaiso (9).
The championships begin with a relay-only session on Wednesday, February 16 at 6:00 pm. Preliminary sessions begin at 11:00 am and Finals sessions at 6:00 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Diving preliminaries begin at 1:00 pm, with the consolation finals to follow and the championship final in the evening.Â
