CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI swimmers are set to visit the sunflower state this weekend for the Kansas Classic at Topeka's Capitol Federal Natatorium beginning Friday morning. The three-day, prelims and finals invitational features Big 12 opponents Kansas and Iowa State, along with conference foes Indiana State and Arkansas-Little Rock.Â
Five different swimmers are seeded in the top-eight entering the meet, with sophomore Faith Larsen and junior Amber Finke poised to finish well in their marquee events. Sophomores Olivia Chambers and Hallory Domnick, along with freshman Sydney Aird, are also seeded in the top-eight.Â
The Panthers have a history of success in Topeka, with seven different school records being broken over the past six seasons at the Kansas Classic.Â
For all events, except the 1650 Free and the relays, the fastest eight swimmers from the prelims qualify for the A-Final, with the next fastest eight swimmers qualifying for the B-Final, both of which will score points in the team race. Up to three additional finals heats will be contested depending on the event.Â
Last time out, Northern Iowa claimed six overall victories at the Coyote Extravaganza in Sioux Falls. UNI split with South Dakota while sweeping South Dakota State, St. Thomas, St. Cloud State, Sioux Falls, and Augustana.Â
This weekend, swimming fans can follow the action on the Meet Mobile app.Â
