CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Panther Scholarship Club saw an increase in membership and another strong year in fundraising, setting new goals for 2022.Â
Â
"We are fortunate to have an incredible donor base that continues to support our 400 student-athletes." said David Harris, UNI director of athletics. "The success we achieve in competition and in the classroom would not be possible without the crucial funds we raise in the PSC. I want to thank everyone for their generous support and look forward to another great year in 2022."Â
Â
The PSC added 153 new members to bring the total number to 1,271 supporters representing 60 Iowa counties and 23 different states. These generous supporters helped raise $1,500,839, the fourth highest cash total ever collected by the PSC in a fund drive.
Â
Our virtual special events like Women at Play and Rally in the Valley and gift-in-kind donations pushed our total raised to $2.12 million.
Â
"I am extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish this year," said Nathaniel Smith, director of athletics annual giving and tickets. "This speaks volumes to the loyalty and passion our donors and fans have for our student-athletes and department. Panthers across the state and country consistently go above and beyond to help provide a life-changing experience for our student-athletes. This provides great momentum as we turn the page and head in 2022. I am excited for what's to come."Â Â
Â
The 2022 goal is to raise $1.6 million. The Panther Scholarship Club fund drive officially kicks off Feb. 1 with renewal packets hitting your mailboxes in the coming days. Fans can renew their 2022 pledges by returning the renewal form in your packet or by making a gift online at supportthepanthers.com.
Â
Other dates to put on the calendar include the 14th annual Rally in the Valley, which is expected to return to an in-person gathering on April 23. The PSC also will host its annual golf outing on June 6 at Briarwood Golf Club in Ankeny.Â
