Panthers Sweep Bradley in First Conference Match

The Northern Iowa Women's Volleyball swept the Bradley University Braves in back-to-back sets on Friday night for the first conference match of the season. Emily Holterhaus led the Panthers with 13 solid kills and Kaylee Donnor grabbed a new season-high with nine assists for the Panthers. Â Â

All three matches consisted of back-and-forth rallies. Bradley's Hannah Thompson led the Braves with eight kills while Rachel Pranger recorded five kills and eight digs to keep the Braves close to the Panthers.

UNI had their highest hitting percentage in the third set recording .424 leaving Bradley with .057.

Set 1: The first traded set ended in the Panthers favor, 25-20. Bradley carried 40 attacking attempts throughout the set but UNI dominated with 20 kills Taylor Alden recorded five kills and eight assists to bring momentum into the second set.

Set 2: The Braves stuck with the Panthers until the 13th point when the Panthers pulled away. Holterhaus paved the way for the Panthers with six kills and UNI claimed the second set, 25-18.

Set 3: The Panthers came out strong in the third set, but the Braves could not keep up. The Northern Iowa Women's Volleyball team kept the Bradley Braves to 14 points to close the match, 25-14.

Up Next: The Panthers stay in the McLeod Center for their second conference matchup, Saturday Sept. 25 against the Illinois State Redbirds in the annual Gold Game. The Panthers enter the match 1-0 in conference play and 6-8 overall  and the Redbirds enter with an overall record 4-9 and an 0-1 conference record after losing to the Drake Bulldogs.
