Panthers Take on Red Bird Invite

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa- The Panthers head to Normal, Illinois to take on the Redbird Invite, hosted by Illinois State University. The women are slated to begin at 5 p.m., running a 6K. The men will follow beginning at 5:45 p.m., running an 8K. Last time that this meet was run in 2019, women finished overall in a 6K race in 6th place behind Northwestern. The men finished fifth overall in the 8k behind host Illinois State.

Runners to watch this week for the men include freshman Payton Marrs and Brady Gabriel. After placing in the top 30 at the Hawkeye Invitational on Sept. 3. Marrs finished the 6k with a time of 19:21.7 placing 24th. Gabriel finished with a time of 19:24.5 placing 27th. David Holesinger will be running with his best time in the 8K from 2019 at the Bradley Classic with a time of 25:53.1. Holesinger finished this race in 2019 in the top 40 with a time of 25:57.3, seconds shy of his best.

For the women, freshman Kiki Connell placed in the top 10 in her collegiate cross country debut. Her best in the 5k is a time of 17:57.90, set in her time with Charles City in High school. Junior Paige Holub is slated to run, her best in the 6k was set in 2018 at the Bradley Pink Classic with a time of 23:07.0. Holub also showed strong in the 6k at the regional qualifier with a time of 23:12.0 in 2019.
