UNI Volleyball Selected 6th in MVC Preseason Poll

St. LOUIS – The UNI volleyball team finished in 6th with 68 points and 1 first place vote in the annual preseason coaches' poll coming off a 9-13 season with an 8-8 mark in Missouri Valley play.
Coming off a regular season title and MVC Tournament crown, Illinois State has been tabbed as the league favorite in the annual coaches' preseason poll, receiving 79 points and three first-place votes. The Redbirds narrowly edged second-place pick Drake (77 points, three 1st place votes) and Loyola Chicago (75 points, one 1st place vote).
Missouri State (71 points, one 1st place vote) and Bradley (71 points) tied for fourth in the poll, while UNI (68 points, one 1st place vote), Valparaiso (40 points), Indiana State (31 points, one 1st place vote), Evansville (26 points) and Southern Illinois (12 points) round out the poll.
League teams return 49 starters and nine liberos (83-percent of starters) from the spring season, including nine of the 12 first team all-conference selections and another five players who earned second-team accolades.
The preseason all-conference team was comprised of Haley Bush (Drake), Rylee Cookerly (Valparaiso), Amelia Flynn (Missouri State), Sarah Kushner (Illinois State), Hannah Thompson (Bradley), and Alondra Vazquez (Evansville).
