Brinkman Leads AP All-American Defensive First-Team Votes

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Jared Brinkman led the way with the most votes among defensive players for the AP All-American team released Wednesday by the organization. It is his second All-American Team selection this week.
Brinkman, the MVFC Defensive Player of the Year, was a First-Team All-American selection for the Stats Perform All-American team released Monday. He was also a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award.
He led the MVFC with 9.0 tackles for loss and 1.29 TFLs per game. He finished the season with 38 total tackles. The senior was second in the league with two forced fumbles and tallied three QB hurries and recovered a fumble. He had 4.5 TFLs and a sack against Missouri State and was a leader on the Panther defense that led the league in scoring defense, allowing just 12 touchdowns all season.
Brinkman returns for his senior season in the fall of 2021. The Panthers are slated to open their schedule against Iowa State on Sept. 4, in Ames.
