Three Panthers Named To Newcomer Team

ST. LOUIS – Three Panthers were named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team announced by the league Friday.
Defensive back Benny Sapp III, tight end Kyle Fourtenbary and wide receiver Quan Hampton received recognition. All three players transferred to UNI ahead of this season.
Hampton also earned MVFC Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. The Kansas transfer led the Panthers with 32 receptions for 356 yards on the season. He averaged 50.86 yards per game and 11.13 yards per catch. On the ground, he tallied six rushes for 43 yards and notched four kickoff returns for 151 yards, including a 65-yard return against Illinois State.
Fourtenbary, a senior transfer from Western Kentucky, caught six passes for 65 yards. His best game came against Missouri State when he tallied two catches for 48 yards. He made his name in blocking, veteran coach Terry Allen said, "He is the best Second-level blocker I have ever coached."
Sapp, a transfer from Minnesota, was fifth on the team with 33 tackles. He tallied .5 tackles for loss, an interception and two pass breakups. He also added a fumble recovery.
