Women's Soccer Place Five on All-MVC Teams

ST. LOUIS – The UNI women's soccer team has five student athletes named to All-MVC teams as announced by the conference office on Friday, April 16. UNI's Sandra Thiman and Lauren Heinsch were named Second Team All-MVC while Caitlin Richards, Allison Whitaker and Lizzie Mewes were all named Honorable Mention All-MVC.
Sandra Thiman earns Second Team All-MVC honors after leading the UNI defense that recorded 6 shutouts on the season. Thiman started in 11 games and scored 2 goals. Thiman scored her first goal against Missouri State (3/13/21) with 4 shot attempts and 2 on goal, her second goal came against Southern Illinois (3/21/21).

Lauren Heinsch joins Thiman on the Second Team and landed on the MVC All-Freshman Team after scoring 2 goals and recording 8 shots on goal for the season. Heinsch played and started in all 11 games. She scored her first goal against Southern Illinois (3/21/21) and her second against Drake (4/7/21).


Freshman goalkeeper Caitlin Richards earned Honorable Mention All-MVC honors after starting all 11 games and recording 39 total saves in the net. Richards finished the season with a season high 13 saves against Illinois State in the MVC Quarterfinal game.

Allison Whitaker was named Honorable Mention All-MVC as a sophomore defender for the Panthers. Whitaker is a part of a very strong Panther defensive unit. Whitaker played and started in all 11 games with 1 goal and 2 shots on goal.

Sophomore Lizzie Mewes earns a spot on the Honorable Mention All-MVC team after starting all 11 games for the Panthers. Mewes is a critical part of the Panther attack, finishing the season with 9 shots, 5 shots on goal and 1 assists.
