UNI Spring Invite: Day 1

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI men and women's golf teams were in action at the UNI Spring Invite. The men played 2 rounds of match play with the women played 36 holes of stroke play action.
The UNI men went 2-0, defeating Wartburg 4-2 and beat Western Illinois in a tiebraker after tying 3-3. UNI won 11-5 in the hole differential to finish 2-0 on the day. Tommy Doyle won both matched 2&1 while Jack Reeves dominated 2 opponents, winning 8&7 and 7&5.
The UNI women's golf team end day 1 in 3rd place, trailing Iowa (300-301=601) and Drake (304-306=610). The Panthers shot a first round 305 and second round 309 for a 614 total.
Sydney Eaton led the way for the Panthers finishing 36 holes in second place. Eaton carded a first round 74 and second round 73 for a 147 and trailing only Drakes Kristen Giles (72-73=146) by 1 stroke. Hannah Bermel carded 153 (77-76) to tie for 7th and Emily Snelling finished in a tie for 9th with a 154 (75-79).
The women's team will be back action Sunday for the final round of the UNI Spring Invite. Sunday's round is schedule for a 8:30 am shotgun start.
