Panthers Travel to Southern Illinois for Final MVC Matchup

The women's basketball team travels to Carbondale, Illinois on Mar. 5-6 to challenge the Salukis in the final series of Missouri Valley Conference Play before the Hoops in the Heartland Tournament.
• The Panthers are coming off of a series sweep against Evansville where they beat the Aces, 67-31 and 96-48 on Feb. 27-28. UNI set a new career-high 21 three-point field goals made in a single game on Feb. 28, against the Aces.
• Megan Maahs was honored on Feb. 28 for Senior Day. She finished the series against Evansville in the No. 18 spot on the All-Time Scoring list with 1,067 points and 830 career rebounds after having the team-high eight rebounds.
• Eight Panthers scored three-pointers on Feb. 28 for the new career-record and MVC record. These Panthers included Karli Rucker, Emerson Green, Kayba Laube, Kam Finley, Kiana Barney, Nicole Kroeger, Maya McDermott and Cailyn Morgan.
• The Salukis lost in the series against Valparaiso Feb. 27-28. They lost 75-64 on Saturday and pushed the Crusaders into overtime on Sunday but could not come out on top and lost, 70-63.
• Mackenzie Silvey and Payton McCallister led the Salukis on Feb. 27 with 16 points each. Silvey grabbed a double-double on Feb. 28 in overtime with 19 points and 10 rebounds and played for 43 minutes of the game.
• The Panthers and the Salukis are an almost equal matchup. UNI and the Salukis share a 40.2% field goal percentage but UNI on average makes 8.4 three-pointers per game whereas the Salukis average 6.2.
• Karli Rucker is tied for the No. 13 spot on the All-Time Scoring list with Katie Miller at 1,0343 points.
• Kayba Laube has made 26 treys this season. She made eight between the two Evansville games and recorded a new career-high five threes against the Aces. Laube is fourth on the Panthers roster for three-point field goals made behinds Nicole Kroeger, Kam Finley and Karli Rucker.
• UNI enters the final MVC series with an overall record of 12-11 and 9-7 in the conference. Southern Illinois is 8-13 and 5-11 when it comes to conference play. The Panthers have claimed the win for the past six meetings between the two teams.
