
Panthers Face Creighton in Round Two of WNIT

The women's basketball team battled against the Dayton Flyers and secured the 14-point win, 70-56. This marks the third time in program history to enter the second round of the WNIT, the last time being in 2016.
• Kam Finley led the Panthers to the first-round victory with 23 total points. Finely went 5-7 (71.4%) from the three-point line, 2-2 (100.0%) from the free-throw line, and managed to grab four rebounds and two steals.
• The Panthers had just seven turnovers and created an 11-1 lead in the fourth quarter which aided in the 14 points win.
• Megan Maahs and Kayba Laube both scored nine points. Laube scored all nine from the deep, three-point range. Maahs scored her points in the paint and grabbed eight rebounds, adding to her career-total now at 859 rebounds.
• The Creighton Bluejays skated past Bowling Green on Friday afternoon, 72-65. The Bluejays will meet the Panthers for the second time in the 2020-21 season.
• Creighton clenched the seven-point win after struggling to find the hoop early on. They managed to go 9-17 from behind the arc and made 21 free-throws during the game.
• Carly Bachelor recorded a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds against Bowling-Green. Temi Carda followed Bachelor with 19 points for Creighton.
• Temi Carda earned BIG EAST Second Team Honors and Freshman Emma Ronsiek was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
• With the 70-56 win against Dayton, the Panthers enter the second round of the WNIT for the first time since 2016. The last time UNI advanced to the third round, they suffered a one-point loss to South Dakota who went on to win the tournament.
• UNI has a stronger scoring offense and records 8.6 three-point field goals per game to the Bluejays' 8.4 per game. Creighton shoots 78.9% from the charity stripe which challenges UNI's 75.4%.
• The Panthers face Creighton on Saturday, Mar. 20 at 5 p.m. in the UW Health Sports Factory. The winner of this game will advance to the final game in the Rockford Region.
