Panther women's basketball heads to Omaha for Thanksgiving weekend

OMAHA, Nebraska - The UNI women's basketball team hits the road following the Thanksgiving holiday to take on the Creighton Bluejays.Â
After rolling over the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday, the Panthers will be visiting Head Coach Tanya Warren's alma mater on Saturday afternoon for their sixtieth meeting. UNI has won the past two meetings against the Bluejays, but overall is 20-39. Tipoff for the 60th meeting on Saturday, November 27th is set for 1 p.m. at D.J. Sokol Arena.
THE PANTHERS:
-Â The Panthers had a perfect week going 2-0 against North Dakota State and Wichita State. UNI hits the road again right after the Thanksgiving holiday to take on Creighton in Omaha.
- Senior guard Nicole Kroeger had a day behind the arc against Wichita State on Saturday, November 20th. In the 3rd quarter, Kroeger had 4 three point shots fall one after the other in a span of under 5 minutes. Kroeger last scored 4 or more three pointers against Drake in the 2019-2020 season (5 3FG).
- Saturday's 87-55 win against Wichita State was UNI's 7th win in a row against the Shockers. The Panthers currently hold the all-time series lead 42-35 dating back to January 6th, 1984.
- The Panthers currently lead the MVC in win-loss percentage at 75%. They are ranked 77th among NCAA Division 1 women's basketball programs.Â
THE BLUEJAYS:Â
- Currently the Bluejays are even on the season with wins against Omaha and South Dakota State and with losses against Nebraska and Drake.
- The Bluejays are 15th among Division 1 women's basketball programs in assist-turnover ratio at 1.48.Â
- Creighton is led by sophomore forward Emma Ronsiek, averaging 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.75 blocks a game. Ronsiek is also ranked 85th in the nation for blocked shots with 7 through 4 games.
- The Bluejays are in game 2 of a 6 game homestand at D.J. Sokol Arena. Creighton is 114-42 (73%) at D.J. Sokol Arena since it's opening in 2009.Â
- Creighton has used their deep bench in their first four games, using at least 10 players in all four contests so far.Â
