CEDAR FALLS - The UNI Swim and Dive team travels to Sioux Falls to compete in the Coyote Extravaganza from Friday, November 5 through Saturday, November 6. Hosted by the University of South Dakota at the Midco Aquatic Center, the meet also features South Dakota State, St. Cloud State, Saint Thomas, and Sioux Falls.
The Coyote Extravaganza is scored as separate dual meet competitions between each of the participating schools. In total, the Panthers will compete in ten different dual meets over the weekend.Â
In the most recent meetings, the Panthers have reigned victorious against the Coyotes, Jackrabbits, and Huskies, picking up wins at the 2019 Quad Duals in Sioux Falls. This will be the first ever meeting between UNI and the University of Saint Thomas. The Panthers defeated Sioux Falls in 2017, making the first collegiate victory for Head Coach Nick Lakin.
The Panthers enter the Extravaganza with the highest ranking in 9 of the 16 individual events, with no teams having competed the 100 individual medley yet. Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and South Dakota State each enter with the highest ranking in two events and Saint Thomas in one.Â
Most recently, the Panthers swept the event lineup against Valparaiso to celebrate Senior Day. Freshman Ema Lavigne and Olivia Chambers each claimed their first collegiate victories and junior Taylor Hogan recorded a career-best score of 268.26 on 1-meter.Â
"We feel really good going into this weekend where we will see five strong teams up in Sioux Falls," Head Coach Nick Lakin said. "We feel like we have a lot of depth compared to the past."
The two-day event will begin at 6 p.m. on November 5 and again at 10 a.m. on November 6. Fans can follow along using the Meet Mobile App.
