CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI softball has announced the signing of three players to its program on Wednesday with their NLI signing
"We couldn't be more excited about the class of 2022 recruits," says Head Coach Ryan Jacobs. "We have been waiting for this day to come for a long time. Although this class is small in numbers they all will have a huge impact on our program. We are always looking for power and athleticism. This class is exactly that. We certainly expect all of them to immediately help us towards another MVC Championship and another trip to NCAA postseason."
Adalyn Reynolds | Utility | Mount Ayr HS | Mount Ayr, IA
Reynolds is a three sport athlete from Mount Ayr High School where she received in honors in all three sports. Over the summer season, Reynolds hit .449/.522/.936 with nine homers, seven doubles and two triples. "Adalyn is a standout athlete in volleyball, track, and softball for Mount Ayr High School," said Jacobs. "She is a natural athlete and has a wide skill set. She is a consistent hitter with elite speed. The best part about Addy is all her coaches comment first about how she has a great positive attitude and is a tremendous team player." Adalyn is the daughter of Ryan and Angela Reynolds and has two younger siblings.Â
Alexis Pupillo | Catcher/Third Base | Crystal Lake South HS | Crystal Lake, ILÂ
Pupillo attends Crystal Lake South High School while also playing travel softball with the Wasco Diamonds in the summer. In her most recent season, Pupillo hit at .594 and led the Gators with 13 homers, 10 doubles, 37 RBIs and 46 runs scored. "Alexis is one of the best high school hitters that I have seen in some time," says Coach Jacobs. "Her ability to hit for tremendous power along with a high average is what is so impressive. With her sneaky speed she is able to take the extra base when it's there and be very athletic behind the plate and at third base. Lex is a weight room junky and is also one of the most impressive young lifters we have seen. Her work ethic, competitiveness, and motivation is what makes her great. We can't wait to add her dynamic personality and work ethic to our program." Alexis is the daughter of Phil and Linda Pupillo and has one younger brother.Â
Kate Lappe | Infield/Utility |Â Bondurant-Farrar HS | Bondurant, IA
Lappe attends Boudurant-Farrar High School and plays travel softball with Iowa Premier Fastpitch. In her most recent season, Lappe hit .594/.677/1.396, with 148 total bases and was named the 2021 Class 4A Player of the Year while making the All-State Offensive team. ""Kate is a very powerful athlete," says Jacobs. "A standout track and field thrower, basketball player, and at the top of the softball homerun leader board in the state of Iowa. Kate is one of the best power hitters in the state and has the skills and athleticism to play a very good shortstop. We are really excited to see how she develops in our program." Kate is the daughter of Jim and Kathy Lappe and has one younger sister.Â
"I want to recognize assistant coach Monica Wright for her hard work and dedication to signing this class and to the UNI Softball program as a whole," Coach Jacobs continues. "She was such a huge impact on this program in her first year, and we are both looking forward to building this program more and more each year. Also, I want to comment on how quickly Garrett Furnal got involved in the recruiting process. His first day on the job was at the Iowa high school softball state tournament. His experience on the recruiting trail will be a huge asset to the program. But, no matter who is on our staff, we will be very dedicated and committed to recruiting high character people that embrace hard work and are committed to our process."
