THIS WEEK'S ACTION:
Thursday, October 28th - Des Moines, IowaÂ
UNI at Drake - 4 p.m.
THE PANTHERS:
- The Panthers close out their season on the road against in-state rival Drake. UNI will be playing to see if they can get home field advantage in the first game of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament with a win against Drake.
- In their final game at the UNI Soccer Field in its first season, the Panthers were able to collect a winning record. Over 9 games this season, UNI won 5 times at the on campus field in its inaugural season.
- It was a career game for Panther defender Sandra Thiman who had a season high in shots, shots on goal, goals, and assists against Southern illinois. Thiman had 2 goals, including a penalty kick goal, that broke her personal best of 1 against Missouri State last week.
- For the first time this season, the Panthers played in a game where both teams had penalty kicks. UNI was awarded a penalty kick in the 44th minute when defender Sandra Thiman was taken down on a shot in the penalty box by the Salukis. The Salukis then got a penalty kick of their own in the 66th minute when Christy Murauskis was interfered with in the box
THE BULLDOGS:
- The Bulldogs will get to have their last match of the season at home after a 3-2 double-overtime loss at Missouri State last week.
- The Bulldogs had to wait over 3 hours to get their match started against Missouri State due to inclement weather in the Springfield area. It was the longest wait of the season to begin a game due to weather conditions.
- The Bulldogs are led by senior midfielder Libby Helverson, who has 5 goals and 4 assists in 17 games this season.
- Bulldogs goalkeeper Kelsie Stone has started all but one game this season for Drake. Stone has had 7 shutouts so far this season, which is good for 2nd in the MVC and 25th nationally.Â
