Panther Track and Field Returns to Action, Saturday at Home

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI Track and field opens the season with a home dual against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It is the first competition for the Panthers since last year's indoor track and field championship in the UNI-Dome on Feb. 29-March 1.
The meet will begin at 3 p.m. with field events. The track events begin at 3:15 with the 60-meter hurdles.
The meet is expected to conclude around 6 p.m.
DEFENDING CHAMPS
The UNI men won the 2020 Indoor championship just before the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Panthers outscored Illinois State and Southern Illinois who tied for second by 31.5 points (143.5 to 112). The Panther women finished fifth but were just 3.5 team points out of third place.
ALL-AMERICAN RETURNS
All-American shot putter Darius King returns to lead a solid group of throwers for the Panthers. UNI returns four of the top-eight finishers at the MVC Indoor Championship a year ago, including the champion, King, and runner-up Tom Yezek.
RETURNING MVC INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONS
King returns for the Panthers as well 200-meter champion Isaiah Trousil.
ATTENDANCE
Fans are allowed to attend the event. Fans must enter the SW UNI-Dome entrance. Attendance will be capped at 15% of UNI-Dome seating capacity. Masks must be worn at all times and fans should sit at least eight feet from other groups.
