Hurdlers Lead the Way at Wartburg Meet

WAVERLY, Iowa – Jack Sumners and Aleenah Marcucci recorded the top times in the 60-meter hurdles at the Wartburg Friday Night Lights Meet and moved into first place in the MVC to date.
Sumners hit his career-best by 1/100th of a second and now sits first in the MVC more than a 10th of a second faster than Indiana State's Matthew Lewis-Banks.
Marcucci surged ahead of teammate Hannah Schau for the top spot in the league with a preliminary time of 8.92. She did not compete in the final. The Panthers hold the top three spots on the women's side and three of the top four on the men's side in the hurdles.
The limited Panther squad five events on the men's side and seven on the women's side.
UNI next travels to the Ted Nelson Dual against Minnesota State in Mankato on Saturday, Feb. 6.
