
Panther Track and Field Competes at Wartburg

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI Track and Field travels to Waverly to compete in the Friday Night Lights Meet. No fans will be allowed to attend the meet, but there will be a live stream available. The Panthers will compete against athletes from Wartburg and Loras. The meet will begin with field events at 4:30 p.m. with track events beginning at 5:30 p.m.
NCAA Top-15 Panthers
Darius King hit a career-best throw of 20.06-meters in the shot put to claim the No. 2 spot in the NCAA. His throw is the third-best for an American so far this year and the ninth-best mark in the world. He is the first Panther to throw over 20-meter in either indoor or outdoor competition.
Thai Thompson finished first in the heptathlon at the Jack Jennett Invite and moved into 15th-place in the NCAA with a score 4,856.
Leading the Valley
Six Valley teams have competed so far this season, after two weekends of competition, the Panthers lead the Valley in 11 events across the men's and women's teams.
Sprinting to the Front
The Panthers hold the top spot in the 60-meter and 200-meter dash on both the men's and women's fields. Freshman Libby Wedewer leads the women's side in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. On the men's side, Tayshaun Cooper leads the valley in the 60-meter dash. Isaiah Trousil leads the Valley in the men's 2000-meter dash.
