UNI Athletics Launches Diversity and Inclusion Web Page

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI Athletics has launched a webpage designed to track all diversity and inclusion initiatives and amplify the voices of student-athletes. The site will also serve as a centralized hub for student-athletes in marginalized groups to access resources.
The site unipanthers.com/Inclusion, lists education and active initiatives and promotes stories, accomplishments and the voices of UNI's student-athletes.
"We have worked hard and invested time and resources to ensure that we are doing what we can to support our student-athletes, staff and coaches of color and other marginalized groups," Director of Athletics David Harris said. "There is no doubt that we still have a very long way to go, but this will be a place where we can show our progress and be accountable for our work."
The page is a continuation of the efforts outlined by Panthers Rising, the departmental strategic plan launched in 2018. The plan includes a diversity and inclusion "Core Value" area with specific goals and metrics outlined.
Another aspect of the page includes an "Amplify" sub-page, which includes social media posts from student-athletes, coaches and staff expressing their thoughts on current events.
The diversity and inclusion page will be constantly updated to include the programs, initiatives and updates that are undertaken to elevate the voices of our student-athletes and make departmental changes.
