Swim and Dive to Compete at MVC Championships

COLUMBA, Missouri - The Missouri Valley Conference swimming and diving championships are next week in Columbia, Missouri. Competition will take place Wednesday the 19th through Saturday the 22nd.

The UNI swimming and diving team goes into the week with an 11-5 record overall and a 1-0 record against conference opponents. The Panthers picked up a conference win over Illinois State in January.

The Panthers have had five athletes earn weekly honors from the conference this season. Divers Jayden Lovell and Taylor Hogan and swimmers Katie Taylor, Moriah Ross, and Sydney Schmidt have each earned the honors. Taylor has won the honor three times this season.

The Panthers return four All-Conference swimmers from last season. Taylor, Ross, and Lauren Havertape were all named to the first team. Kylie Engstrom was named to the second team.

The preseason MVC coach's poll had UNI finishing 4th in the conference with 43 points. The Panthers also finished fourth in the conference a season ago.
