
Panthers fall to Iowa State, North Texas

AMES, Iowa - The UNI Swim and Dive team fell to North Texas and Iowa State in Ames over the weekend. The Panthers lost to North Texas by a score of 189-163 and Iowa State by a score of 240-108.
Senior Katie Taylor lead the way for the Panthers, picking up first place in the 100 back (55.34), the 200 back (1:59.38), and the 200 IM (2:04.93). Taylor was also on three relays that finished in the top four in the 200 medley relay (3rd, 1:47.03), the 400 free relay (4th, 3:35.37), and the 400 medley relay (3rd, 3:54.40).
Moriah Ross picked up three top three finishes, placing third in the 100 breast (1:05.45), second in the 200 breast (2:20.85), and third in the 200 IM (2:12.02). Ross also finished in the top four in the 200 medley relay (3rd, 1:47.03), the 400 free relay (4th, 3:35.37), and the 400 medley relay (3rd, 3:54.40).
Other swimmers who finish in the top four included Sydney Schmidt who placed second in the 100 fly (58.85) and Kylie Engstrom who placed third in the 1000 free (10:36.96). Three swimmers placed fourth, with Jordan McCullough in the 200 back (2:08.36), Sarah Walpole in the 1000 free (10:44.64), and Rachelle Houlette in the 200 IM (2:13.96).
The divers had three top three finishes. Taylor Hogan took 2nd in the 3 meter dive (255.25) and 3rd in the 1 meter dive (240.00). Jayden Lovell placed 3rd in the 3 meter dive (241.70).
The Panthers four relay teams each finished in the top four. The 200 medley (1:47.03) and the 400 medley (3:54.40) both took third place. The 400 free relay (3:35.37) and the 200 free (1:40.34) both placed fourth.
UNI fell to both North Texas (189-163) and Iowa State (240-108). The Cyclones swept the meet with a win over North Texas 227-121.
Next up on the schedule for the Panthers is the MVC Championships in Columbia, Missouri. The meet will take place February 19-22.Â
