Three Panthers Named MVC Athletes of the Week

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI track and field picked up three of four Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
Patrice Watson was named the MVC Female Track Athlete of the Week and UNI swept the Make Athlete of the Week honors with Cam Bauer earning Male Field Athlete of the Week honors and C.J. May picking up Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Watson earned the honor after winning the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.81. She beat athletes from the Big Ten, MAC and MVC in the final to earn the first-place finish.
May won the 1,000-meter run with a career-best time of 2:26.15. He won the event over athletes Big Ten, MVC and Summit League.
Bauer took first place in the pole vault and the triple jump with career bests in both events. He won the triple jump at 46-feet-00, beating his previous best by three inches. In the pole vault, he topped his previous best by four inches and won the event by a foot over the second-place competitor.
The Panthers are back in action this weekend at the Bison Team Cup Saturday in Fargo, N.D.
