Panthers Picked 20th in Preseason Coaches Poll

WACO, Texas – UNI football opens the season ranked 20th in the AFCA Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll released by the organization Monday.
UNI returns to the poll after receiving votes in the 2018 final poll. The Panthers finished 2018 with a 7-6 record, and made the fourth trip to the FCS Postseason in five years.
UNI returns 16 starters from last season, including preseason All-Americans tight end Briley Moore and defensive back Xavior Williams.
The Panthers open the season ranked 18th in the STATS FCS Preseason Top-25 Poll that was released earlier this month.
UNI is one of five Missouri Valley teams ranked in the poll. North Dakota State is ranked first, South Dakota State is ranked third, Illinois State is ranked 13th and Indiana State comes in at 16th. South Dakota received votes in the poll.
The Panthers kick off the season against Iowa State on Aug. 31 in Ames at 11 a.m. The first home game of the season is Sept. 7 against Southern Utah at 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at UNIPanthers.com/tickets or by calling the ticket office at 319-273-4849.
