Sammey Bunch Named MVC Player of the Week

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Shortstop Sammey Bunch has been named the MVC softball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the second time this season that Bunch has received the honors.
In the three games played against Illinois State, Bunch went 6-11 from the from the plate with three home run, six RBIs and five runs scored.
Bunch hit a home run in each game against the Redbirds, bringing her current streak to five straight games with a home run. Bunch's 13 home runs are first in the Missouri Valley, and she is one home run short of tying UNI's single-season record.
Bunch also leads the conference in runs (38), total bases (95), and batting average (.444).
It is the fourth time in Bunch's career that she has been named as a Player of the Week for the Missouri Valley Conference.
