Lohaus Shines in Arch Madness Victory

ST. LOUIS, Missouri – Senior Wyatt Lohaus finished with 21 points to lead the Panthers to a first-round victory in Arch Madness, defeating the Salukis of Southern Illinois 61-58.
The Panthers and Salukis took the floor in the final game on the evening, tipping off at 8:30 p.m. in the Enterprise Center.
The Panthers were able to get out to an early lead and maintained the lead the majority of the first half. The Panthers managed to take an eight-point lead into halftime behind an 11 point opening half by Wyatt Lohaus. The senior guard went 4-9 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line while hauling in a team-high four rebounds.
The Panthers had 16 points in the paint with Justin Dahl adding 8 of those points going 3-3 down low. AJ Green was held scoreless in the first half but led the Panthers with two assists.
UNI led by as many as eleven points in the second half but the Salukis wouldn't go down quietly. Southern Illinois took the lead with 31 seconds remaining in the game but AJ Green hit a mid-range jumper with four seconds left to put the Panthers ahead. The Salukis put Spencer Haldeman at the free throw line and he sealed the victory going 2-2 from the line.
Wyatt Lohaus ended with 21 points, two shy of his season high, making eight field goals and going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Trae Berhow added 11 points for the Panthers going 3-4 from beyond the three-point arc.
Justin Dahl played his best game of the season on Friday, finishing with 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Luke McDonnell put together a solid performance on the night, finishing with 9 points while going 4-9 from the field. The junior forward finished with 7 rebounds, including 3 offensive rebounds, and recorded a team-high 2 steals.

The Panthers, now 15-17, will shift their focus to the 24-8 Bulldogs of Drake University in the 5 p.m. semifinal game on Saturday, March 9. The Panthers went 1-1 against the Bulldogs in league play this season. The Panthers semifinal game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
