Men's Basketball Fall to Indiana State 71-54

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – The UNI men's basketball team wrapped up their regular season Saturday, falling to the Sycamores 71-54 on the road.
The Panthers struggled to hang on to the ball in the opening five minutes, turning the ball over five times. The Sycamore got out to an eight point lead after just four minutes of play and maintained the lead the entire half. The Panthers ended the first half with eleven turnovers and trailed the Sycamores 35-19 at halftime.
The Panthers shot 33 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes and were 0-8 from the beyond the three point arc. AJ Green led the Panthers with four points and four rebounds while Luke McDonnell ended the first half with a team high three blocks.
The second half was less one sided then the first but the Panthers were unable to go on a substantial run to close the gap. The Sycamores outscored the Panthers 36-35 in the final 20 minutes of play.
Spencer Haldeman led the Panthers scoring effort finishing with 16 points going 4-7 from the beyond the three point arc and going 4-4 from the free throw line. Freshman AJ Green ended with 10 points while going 5-16 from the field and led the Panthers in assist with 3.
Sophomore Trae Berhow ended with 2 points and hauled in a team high 8 rebounds. Luke McDonnell ended the night with 8 points and ended with 3 blocks, tying his career high.

The Panthers now look to the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament set for March 7-10 in the Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis. Due to multiple ties within the conference the Panthers fate is not yet decided after the loss to Indiana State. This afternoon's game against Southern Illinois and Illinois State and Bradley and Loyola will decide whether the Panthers will play on Thursday or Friday.
