UNI Women Travel to Minneapolis for WNIT Opener

The UNI women meet Minnesota in the first round of the Women's Invitational Tournament Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Williams Arena in Minneapolis. The Panthers end the year with a 20-12 record while the Gophers finish the year 20-10.Â
Karli Rucker is the Panthers' leading scorer at 14.7 PPG. Mikaela Morgan is second on the team at 8.9 points per game. Â Bre Gunnels leads UNI in the rebounding category at 4.8 RPG.Â
Senior captain Ellie Howell will miss the remainder of the season with an injury she joins junior preseason All-Conference honoree Megan Maahs who is also out for the season.Â
Kenisha Bell leads the Gophers with 18.8 points per game. Destiny Pitts also averages 16.0 PPG. Taiye Bello averages 9.4 points and a team-high 12.2 points per game. Minnesota is 9-9 in Big Ten play.Â
The Gophers won their first 12 games before going 8-10 the rest of the way. The Gophers lost to Indiana 66-58 in the Big Ten Tournament.Â
Minnesota is 10-0 all-time against UNI.Â
