CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI track and field team travels to Ames, Iowa for the Iowa State Classic to face a strong field and tough competition Friday and Saturday.
Â
UNI was originally going to split, sending half of the team to South Dakota State, but the decision was made to keep the team together.
Â
The Panthers enter the weekend just two weeks ahead of the MVC Championship in Cedar Falls. Thirteen Panthers are currently in the top-3 of the MVC. Tayshaun Cooper has the top MVC mark in the 60-meter dash and Maddie McCalla is currently the leader in the 400-meter dash. The Men's 4x400-meter relay has the best time in the MVC and ranks in the top-25 in all of the NCAA.
Â
The Panther men and women both climbed two spots in the USTFCCCA Regional rankings. The UNI men moved up to No. 15, while the UNI women jumped to No. 20 and supplanted Conference foe Missouri State in the process.
Â
Twenty Panther events were ranked in the USTFCCA men's #EventSquad Rankings with men's shot put remaining second in the NCAA.
Â
This weekend's meet begins at 12 p.m. on both days.
