CEDAR FALLS, Iowa— The UNI swimming and diving team was selected to finish second at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, as voted on by league coaches.

The Panthers received 53 votes, more than half of the league's second-place votes. Going into the conference championship, the Panthers lead the Valley in seven individual events and all five relays. Junior Katie Taylor holds four of the top times for the Valley, including NCAA B-cuts in the 200 backstroke, 200 IM, and 400 IM. The Panthers are also led by senior Crystal Florman and Moriah Ross. Florman leads the league in the 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly, while Ross has earned an NCAA B-cut in the 200 breaststroke.

The 2019 Swimming and Diving Championships will take place February 20-23 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The Missouri State Bears were picked to finish first by league coaches.

The Panthers have only lost three dual competitions this season while breaking records all season long. At the Kansas Classic in November, the Panthers broke six individual records and two relay records. Additionally, four of the records earned NCAA B-cut marks. The Panthers broke six individual and one relay time record for the Glen F. Henry pool when Illinois State visited the Panthers in January.

Nationally, the Panthers were honors by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America for their academic performance, posting a 3.51 cumulative GPA for the fall semester.

The Panthers have posted regular-season victories over Illinois State (Jan. 19) and Valparaiso (Oct. 13) as they prepare for conference action.

Taylor earned MVC Swimmer of the week honors three times this season, while Florman earned honors once.
