#16 UNI Wrestling Falls to #2 Oklahoma State, 24-9

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 2 Oklahoma State snapped UNI wrestling's three-match win streak, beating the No. 16 Panthers, 24-9.

UNI fell to 5-5 overall, 5-1 in the Big 12. Oklahoma State now remains the only undefeated team in the Big 12, improving to 11-0, 7-0.

The Panthers got wins from Josh Alber at 141 pounds, Bryce Steiert at 165 pounds and Taylor Lujan at 174 pounds.

Oklahoma State jumped out to an early lead with bonus points in the first two bouts at 125 pounds and 133 pounds.

Alber extended his win streak to 13 consecutive matches with a 4-3 decision over No. 12 Kaid Brock. The decision was Alber's sixth win over a top-20 opponent this year.

Max Thomsen gave up a takedown just as time expired in the 149-pound match to take No. 4 Kaden Gfeller to overtime. Oklahoma State got the takedown to win 9-7 in sudden victory.

It would take Steiert at 165 pounds to get the Panthers back on the board with a 2-0 decision over No. 23 Andrew Shomers. Ranked at 157 pounds, Shomers moved up a weight for this dual.

Lujan knocked off his first opponent ranked in the top five this year with a 5-4 decision over No. 5 Joe Smith.
