Panthers Take on #23 Colorado in Tuesday Match up

THE BUFFALOES
• Colorado is 19-5 over its last 24 games, its best run since a 20-4 stretch spanning the 1961-62 and '62-63 seasons.
• Defense has been the early calling card for Colorado. The Buffaloes rank 11th in the nation in scoring defense at 56.3 points per game and are the early leader in the Pac-12 Conference in that category. Colorado has held four of seven opponents under 60 points and two of those under 50.
• The Buffaloes have held two opponents under 50 points in the same season for the first time since the 2017 Pac-12 schedule, defeating Washington State 81-49 on Feb. 12, 2017, and California, 54-46 on March 4, 2017. The 41 points given up to Wyoming are the lowest since Utah had 41 in the first round of the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament (CU won 55-41).
• On other Pac-12 charts, Colorado is second in field goal defense (.378), third in rebounding margin (+7.4), fourth in blocks (4.6 bpg) and turnover margin (+2.9) and fifth in rebounding defense (31.6).
• Colorado has forced at least 13 turnovers in each game, averaging 17.4 per contest, with a season-high 22 against UC Irvine. The Buffaloes had a season-high nine blocked shots vs. Loyola Marymount.
• Colorado held Sacramento State to 28.3 percent shooting and had a plus-9 advantage on the boards (40-31). The Buffaloes improved to 3-0 this season, and 62-5 under Tad Boyle, when holding a team under 40 percent and having at least a plus-8 advantage in rebounds All-Pac-12 forward Tyler Bey leads Colorado at 14.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals. He has double-doubles in five of seven games this season and in 16 of his last 23 games overall. His 24 career double-doubles are 12th on Colorado's all-time list.
• Bey had 11 points, 17 rebounds and four assists against Sacramento State. Adding in his career-best 19 rebounds against Wyoming, Bey has the top two single-game rebounding performances in the Pac-12 this season. He is averaging 13.8 rebounds over the last four games. His 19 rebounds against Wyoming are the most by a Buffalo since Andre Roberson had 20 against Stanford in Jan. 2013.
• Bey was named MVP of the 2019 MGM Main Event, averaging 14.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 blocks over the two games. He scored 18 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had four blocks in the championship game win over Clemson. Bey also was 9 of 10 from the free-throw line and shot 50 percent from the field.
THE PANTHERS
• UNI moves to 8-1 on the season after defeating Luther College 110-51. The win set a new McLeod Center record for points (110), field goals made (42), three-pointers attempted (33), and tied the arena record for rebounds (50).
•110 points scored against Luther is the highest point total of the Ben Jacobson era and marked just the second time the Panthers have scored over 100 points under Jacobson.
• Freshman Noah Carter finished with 25 points against Luther, the 6-6 forward went 10-16 from the field, 4-8 from the arc and hauled in 8 total rebounds.
•Three Panthers rank in the top 10 in the MVC in three-point attempts, AJ Green 1st, Spencer Haldeman 4th, and Trae Berhow 7th. Berhow leads the conference in three-point percentage, making 51.9 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.
• 2019-20 marks the 2nd time the Panthers have started the season 6-0 in the Ben Jacobson era.
•Trae Berhow finished with 8 three-pointers against UT Martin, tying the UNI single-game record and breaking the McLeod Center record by 1. He followed it up by going 4-4 from beyond the arc against Cornell.
• AJ Green was named to the Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I mid-major player.
• The Panthers return four MVC award winners from last year's team.
• AJ Green: All-Freshman, All-Newcomer, Third Team All-MVC, Freshman of the Year.
• Spencer Haldeman: MVC Sixth Man of the Year.
