Panthers Set for NCAA Tournament

THE SERIES
The Panthers and Tigers will meet for the 21st time on program history on Friday night. The Panthers lead the all-time series 11-6-3, a series dating back to the 1976 season. The two teams met in the NCAA Tournament back in 2010 with the Tigers coming out on top after 5 sets. UNI and Missouri played back on September 13, the Tigers came away with a 3-1 win.

THE TIGERS
•  For the fifth consecutive year and 16th time in program history, Mizzou has earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers will head north to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the second-straight year and match up against Northern Iowa Friday evening in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament.
• Mizzou's current streak of five consecutive years in the NCAA Tournament ranks second-best all-time, trailing only the team's eight-straight bids to the NCAA Tournament from 2000-07.
• The 2019 Tigers finished their regular season 21-7 overall and 13-5 mark in Southeastern Conference action. In Joshua Taylor's first-year campaign at the helm of Mizzou, the team produced six Top 50 RPI wins, eight Top 75 RPI victories and 12, Top 100 RPI triumphs.
• Mizzou is 10-5 all-time in NCAA Tournament First Round matchups. The Tigers are currently riding a five-match winning streak in First Round contests dating back to the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
• Friday evening will mark Mizzou and Northern Iowa's third all-time meeting in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers and Panthers first met 17 years ago (Dec. 7, 2002) with Northern Iowa claiming a 3-2 victory in Cedar Falls in a Second Round matchup. Mizzou claimed revenge in its next postseason meeting with the Panthers (Dec. 3, 2010), stunning nationally ranked Northern Iowa in a First Round contest.

THE PANTHERS
 • UNI earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament and will take on the Missouri Tigers on Friday, December 6 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
• Missouri and UNI took the court early this season, the Panthers lost to the Tigers 1-3 at the Missou Invitational.
• UNI and Missouri played in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, the Panthers fell in five sets inside the McLeod Center.
• The 2019 season marks the 6th time the Panthers have earned an at-large bid into the tournament, earning bids in 2008, 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
• The Panthers are 2-5 in the NCAA Tournament when earning an at-large bid, winning first round matches in 2012 and 2017.
• The Panthers fell to the Redbirds of Illinois State in the MVC Championship match, Illinois State remains the only team to beat the Panthers in the MVC title match. UNI now has 17 MVC Tournament Titles and 8 Runner-Up finishes.
• Bobbi Petersen earns her 6th MVC Coach of the Year in 2019, previously winning the award in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013.
• Four Panthers are named First Team All-MVC in Karlie Taylor, Rachel Koop, Kate Busswitz, and Kaylissa Arndorfer. Both Kaylissa Arndorfer and Emily Holterhaus are named to the MVC All-Freshman Team.
• Karlie Taylor and Rachel Koop were each selected to the MVC All-Tournament Team. Â
• Rachel Koop and Abbi Staack were each named MVC First Team Scholar Athletes, Inga Rotto was named Honorable Mention.
• Karlie Taylor continues to rise up the UNI career kills leadÂer-board, ranking 3rd all-time with 1,701 kills. Rachel Koop ranks 8th in UNI career assists with 2,966.
• Entering the 2019 season, Bobbi Petersen's 485 wins ranks 28th in NCAA Division I coaching victories. Petersen's .763 winning percentage is the 8th highest among active Division I coaches.
• Taylor is the only player in UNI history to record multiple 500 kill seasons.
