
Panther Women's Hoops Travels to Iowa State to Close Non-Conference Play

UNI women's basketball travels to Iowa State for the final non-conference game of the season and the final of five games against a power-five opponent this season. The Panthers go into the game with a 7-3 record, while the Cyclones enter the weekend with a 7-2 record and a 5-1 mark at home.Â
• Kristina Cavey hit a free throw with .6 remaining and Karli Rucker picked off the ensuing inbounds pass to give UNI a 51-50 win over IUPUI. The two teams battled back and forth with a series of runs.  Cavey and Megan Maahs scored 10 points each to lead the way for UNI in the solid non-conference win.Â
• The Cyclones are 5-1 at home and 2-1 on the road this season. Their losses came against Drake in Des Moines and Iowa at home. ISU has a key win against Alabama.  Ashley Joens leads the Cyclones with 24.4 points per game. Kristen Scott averages 13.1. The Cyclones score 77.7 points per game while giving up 60.4. UNI won the last meeting between the two teams, picking up a 57-53 win in Cedar Falls in 2017.
• Kam Finley and Karli Rucker lead UNI at 11.6 points per game. Megan Maahs is third on the team with 9.9 PPG. Bre Gunnels leads with 5.9 rebounds per game and Maahs is averaging 4.8 RPG.Â
• UNI returns 2018-19 First-Team All-MVC honoree Karli Rucker and 2017-18 First-Team All-MVF honoree Megan Maahs to court. Maahs returns after missing most of the 2018-19 season with an injury.Â
• The Panthers are ranked ninth in the NCAA in free-throw percentage at 79.1%. UNI is also 41st in the NCAA with 8.2 Three-pointers made per game.Â
• UNI has played in the postseason in nine of the last 10 seasons, including an appearance in the WNIT in 2019 where the Panthers met Minnesota in the first round.
• Karli Rucker is the leading returning scorer at 15.0 points per game for the 2018-19 season.Â
