Koop, Taylor, Phyfe, and Allen Named November Student Athletes of the Month

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Rachel Koop, Katie Taylor, Austin Phyfe, and Trevor Allen were named the student athletes of the month for their performances in the month of November.
Rachel Koop had 398 assists, 19 kills and 80 digs during the month of November. She helped UNI record an 8-1 record in the month, capture the regular-season MVFC title and advance to the NCAA Volleyball tournament. She also earned MVC Setter of the Year honors after closing out the regular season as the nation's leaders in assists. Koop is a Post-Secondary Student Affairs Master's student. She had been a regular member of the Dean's list and Athletic Directors Honor Roll throughout her undergraduate career.
Katie Taylor earned a bevy of first-place finishes and honors during November. She had four firsts at the two-day USD Duals. She was named MVC Swimmer of the Week after picking up first-place finishes in the 50Y Free, 50 back, 200 back and 200 IM against South Dakota. Taylor recorded 10 season bests to help UNI to a fifth-place finish at the Kansas Classic. Taylor is a Financial Management major and had been named to the Dean's list and Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Austin Phyfe shot an unreal 31-44 (70.5%) from the field and led UNI with 6.4 rebounds per game. He averaged 9.8 points per game to help UNI start 7-1 in November. He also had 12 assists and a team-high five blocks. Phyfe tallied double-doubles in the season opener with 10 points and 11 rebounds against Old Dominion and 11 points and 11 rebounds against UT Martin. He tallied a season-high 22 points against Northern Colorado going 10-16 from the field. He did not miss a field goal in four separate games. Phyfe is an Elementary and Middle Level Education double major and has been named to the Athletic Directors Honor Roll multiple times.
Trevor Allen ran for 237 yards and four touchdowns during November to lead the UNI offensive attack and help the Panthers go 4-1 in the month. He also caught six receptions for 55 yards during November and scored the lone offensive touchdown in the first round of the FCS playoffs against San Diego. Allen Graduates in December with a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree.
