ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) announced its Players of the Week on Monday afternoon. Braden McShane and Andrew Price picked up the Panthers' first Player of the Week honors for the 2026 season, being named Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.
Brden McShane anchored a UNI defense that held one of the top offenses in the Valley to just 17 points after averaging 42.5 points per game this season. McShane helped lift UNI to a win over its second-straight top-five opponent, the first time UNI has defeated two top-five opponents in a single season since 2005. He recorded four total tackles, had a sack, a tackle for loss and returned an interception 21 yards. McShane is UNI's first DPOTW since Woo Governor in 2022.
Andrew Price found the end zone for the first time in his career against No. 4 North Dakota on Saturday after blocking a punt and returning it 36 yards for the score. Price is UNI's first STPOTW since Sergio Morancy in the 2024 season. His blocked punt return for a TD sparked a run of 21-straight points that turned a 7-3 first-quarter deficit into a 24-7 Panther lead.
The Panthers hit the road for the first time in just under a month as they head to Youngstown, Ohio, to take on the Youngstown State Penguins on October 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT at Stambaugh Stadium with coverage available on ESPN+. JW Cox and the Hall of Famer Scott Peterson will be live on the air on 93.5 The Mix and the Panther Sports Radio Network.
UNI football action can be followed all season long on social media on Facebook (UNI Football), X (@UNIFootball) and on Instagram (@unipantherfootball). The full 2026 schedule and roster, along with the latest Panther news and information can be found online at UNIpanthers.com.
