Panther Wrestling Places Seven in Top Three at UNI Open

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Drew Bennett earned the title at 133 and seven Panthers finished in the top three at the UNI Open Saturday at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
Bennett opened the day with an 11-6 win over Iowa State's Charlie Klepps before picking up a 17-0 Tach Fall win in the semifinals over Indiana's Jonathan Moran. In the championship match, he picked up a first-period takedown and then grinded out the 3-2 win over Iowa State' Ramazan Attasauov to pick up the title.
Gable Fox (149), Derek Holschlag (157), Pat Schoenfelder (165) and Tyrell Gordon (197) all advanced to the championship bout before dropping the match for a second-place finish.
Kyle Biscoglia (125) dropped his semifinal match but rallied with a pair of pins to pick up the third-place finish. He had a 3-1 record and all three wins were pins.
Tristan Lara dropped his opening round match but picked up a fall and a major decision to earn third-place honors.
Bryce Esmoil went 2-2 on the day and finished third in the round-robin tournament at 285.

The Panthers will participate in their third consecutive tournament when they take to the mat at the Midlands Championship in Chicago on Dec 29-30, hosted by Northwestern.
