Panther Women's Hoops Hosts NW Missouri State Sunday

UNI hosts NW Missouri State Sunday afternoon in the McLeod Center. The Panthers are 4-0 and off to the best start since the 1998-99 season with a pair of wins over Power-Five teams for the first time since the 2017-18 season. NW Missouri State is 3-2 on the season and is coming off a 73-40 win over Nebraska Christian.Â
• The game is the fourth meeting all-time between the two teams and the first since 1980. The game will count for the Panthers but is an exhibition for the Bearcats.Â
•Four Panthers scored in double figures led by Kam Finley's career-high 20 points to pick up the dominating 88-66 win over Iowa in the McLeod Center Sunday. UNI started the game on an 8-2 run and never trailed en route to the 22-point win. The Panthers were 31-59 (52.5%) from the field and outrebounded Iowa 39-36.
• Karli Rucker leads the Panthers with 15.3 points per game. Kam Finley is second on the team with 13.5 PPG and Megan Maahs is third on the team at 12.3 PPG. Bre Gunnels leads with 7.0 rebounds per game and Maahs is averaging 5.3 RPG.Â
• UNI returns 2018-19 First-Team All-MVC honoree Karli Rucker and 2017-18 First-Team All-MVF honoree Megan Maahs to court. Maahs returns after missing most of the 2018-19 season with an injury.Â
• The Panthers are ranked third in the NCAA in free-throw percentage at 85.0%. UNI is also 10th in the NCAA with 10.0 Three-pointers made per game.Â
• UNI has played in postseason play in nine of the last 10 seasons, including an appearance in the WNIT in 2019 where the Panthers met Minnesota in the first round.
• Karli Rucker is the leading returning scorer at 15.0 points per game for the 2018-19 season.Â
• Kristina Cavey earned Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week honors after averaging nine points and 3.5 rebounds to help the Panthers record a pair of wins over Power Five opponents. Cavey was 2-6 from the field against Mizzou and added four rebounds, an assist, two blocks and two steals for an all-around solid game. She scored 14 points in 17 minutes on 6-7 shooting in the win over Iowa. She also recorded three rebounds and a pair of assists against the Hawkeyes.
