Â
THE SKYHAWKS
• The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad continues its rugged nonconference slate with a Cancun Challenge preliminary round matchup at Northern Iowa.
• This contest marks the Skyhawks' third game in the third different Midwestern state in less than a week. UT Martin has split its first two outings of an eight-game road swing, defeating Western Illinois (98-91 on Nov. 13) before falling to Wichita State (103-62 on Nov. 16).
• Miles Thomas paced the Skyhawks with 15 points in the aforementioned contest at Wichita State, joining Quintin Dove (13) and Derek Hawthorne, Jr. (11) with double-figures in the scoring column. UT Martin sank a season-best 12 three-pointers in that game but shot a season-low 38.6 percent (22-of-57) from the field.
• Dove has guided the Skyhawks so far in the early portion of the season, as the Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference forward ranks third in the league in scoring (20.5 points per game), ninth in rebounding (7.0 per contest) and ninth in minutes played (30.3 per game).
• The Skyhawks and Panthers have never met on the hardwood, as Northern Iowa is one of seven potential first-time opponents on UT Martin's 2019-20 schedule.
• This will be the Skyhawks' first visit to the Hawkeye State since UT Martin took part in the Cyclone Challenge tournament in Ames in 1996.
Â
THE RAMS
• Cornell is off to a 3-1 record to the season, splitting with the Knights of Wartburg and winning games against Coe College and Minnesota-Morris.
