Panthers Defeat Sycamores 3-0

TERRA HAUTE, Indiana – The UNI volleyball team defeated the Sycamores of Indiana State on Friday night, winning 3-0 with set scores of 25-19, 25-9, 25-19. The victory also marked Head Coach Bobbi Petersen's 500th career win.
Coach Petersen becomes the second UNI volleyball coach to reach 500 career victories, joining her former coach and mentor Iradge Ahrabi-Fard. Petersen also becomes just the second Missouri Valley Conference head coach to reach 500 victories, with Missouri State's Melissa Stokes holding the all-time record with 509 victories.
As a team the Panthers hit .337, the third highest mark of the season. The Panthers held the Sycamores to a .085 hitting percentage, the second lowest mark of the MVC season. The Sycamores recorded just four total blocks on the night while the Panthers finished with 15, three solo blocks and 12 block assists.
Karlie Taylor finished the match with 12 kills on 31 total attacks for a .226 hitting percentage. The senior outside hitter also recorded 8 digs on the night. Kate Busswitz and Kaylissa Arndorfer each tallied 11 kills with Kate Busswitz finishing with a .429 hitting percentage. Arndorfer and Busswitz also led the Panther blocking effort with four and three blocks respectively.
Rachel Koop surpassed 2,500 career assists on Friday night, totaling 32 total assists. The senior setter also finished with five kills on seven total attacks for a team high .714 hitting percentage. Abbi Staack recorded a team high 17 digs, followed by Rachel Koop who finished with 10 digs.
