Panthers fall at No. 1 NDSU

FARGO, N.D. – The No. 1 North Dakota State offense rushed for 347 yards en route to a 46-14 win over No. 10 UNI Saturday afternoon at the Fargo Dome.
The NDSU offense got on the board with a touchdown in their first drive to and again later in the first quarter to build a 15-0 lead going into the second quarter.
The Panthers responded with a 17-yard Touchdown from Will McElvain to Isaiah Weston after fumble recovery and a big return from UNI's Chris Kolarevic.
NDSU added a field goal to extend their lead to 18-7 with 6:29 to play in the first quarter, but UNI responded with a six-yard touchdown run by
Tyler Hoosman to cut the lead to 18-14.
The Panther defense held NDSU out of the end zone in the final minutes of the half to carry the momentum into the break.
North Dakota State seized the momentum early in the second with a forced fumble, which led to a touchdown with 13:02 remaining in the third quarter and added three TDs in the fourth to close the game 46-14.
McElvain finished the game 15-29 for 233 yards and a touchdown. Weston scored a touchdown in his fifth consecutive game and tallied a career-high 129 receiving yards. Hoosman led UNI with 54 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
Bryce Flater led UNI with 11 tackles. Kolarevic tallied 10 tackles and the fumble return for 40 yards.
The Panthers fall to 3-3 on the season while North Dakota State is now 6-0 on the year.
UNI returns to action Saturday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. in the UNI-Dome against South Dakota.

- Aaron Graham tallied a career-high five receptions for a career-high 57 yards.
- Isaiah Weston tied his career-high five receptions.
- Isaiah Weston becomes the first Panther player since James Lindgren in 2006 to score a touchdown in five consecutive games.

- Will McElvain recorded over 200 yards passing for the fifth time this season. He now has thrown for 1,308 yards with just one interception on the season.
- Elerson Smith recorded a tackle for loss. He now has 11.5 tackles for loss on the season, a career-high for a season.
