THE WEEK
After opening conference play with a road split, the Panthers host Valparaiso Friday at 7 p.m. and Loyola at 2 p.m. Sunday at the McLeod Center. UNI is 8-6 on the season and are coming off the first overtime game in over a year, an 81-78 win at Bradley. The win came on the heels of a 66-64 loss at Illinois State.Â
The Panthers were picked second in the MVC Preseason Poll. Karli Rucker leads the way for UNI at 14.9 points per game and Ellie Howell has 10.9 PPG. Bre Gunnels is the leading rebounder at 5.1 RPG. The Panthers are 5-0 at home.Â
Valpo is 4-9 on the year under first-year coach Mary Evans. Meredith Hamlet leads the Crusaders at 14.2 PPG and Addison Stoller is second at 12.0 PPG. Valpo opened MVC play with an 80-54 loss against Loyola.Â
Loyola is 7-5 on the season and just 2-3 on the road this year. Three players average double figures led by Abby O'Connor with 14.6 PPG and a team-high 7.1 RPG.Â
Both games this week will be broadcast on ESPN+.
