
Men's Basketball Fall to the Salukis, 70-62

CARBONDALE, Illinois – The UNI men's basketball team took on the Salukis of Southern Illinois on Wednesday night, falling 70-62 on the road.
The Panthers went out to an early lead against the Salukis, leading by as many as 21 points in the first half. The Panthers recorded 13 points on the teams' eight forced turnovers to pad the lead. The Panthers shot 50 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes and took a 16 point lead into the break.
The Salukis went on a 15-2 run to start the second half. Southern Illinois fought all the way back to tie the game with 8:41 remaining and took the lead at the eight minute mark. The Salukis maintained the lead down the stretch and outscore the Panthers 51-27 in the second half.
AJ Green finished the night with 22 points going 8-14 from the field and made 7-8 three point attempts. Isaiah Brown ended with 10 points and finished one rebound shy of recording a double-double. Brown also led the Panthers with 5 assists and 5 steals.
Wyatt Lohaus went 3-8 from the field to finish with 7 points and Luke McDonell grabbed seven rebounds.

The Panthers return to the McLeod Center on Saturday, January 26 to take on the Purple Aces of Evansville. The Aces are 9-10 overall and 3-3 entering Wednesdays contest. Evansville averages 66.8 points per game this season, a mark that ranks fourth in the league. While the Panthers rank at the top of the league in made three pointers the Aces top the league in three point field goal defense, holding league teams to just 26 made three pointers this season. The Panthers and Aces will tip off at 7 pm in the McLeod Center and can be viewed on ESPN+.
